K-Touch 8 Megapixel Camera Phone from Beijing Tianyu

Is these a phone or camera? One of the famous mobile phone maker in China, Beijing Tianyu Communication Equipment has just announced their In-Xiang series (K-Touch) camera phone. First three models of the series has been introduced, which all powered by 7 and 8 megapixel camera module and 3x optical zoom capability. The company claims to have added the phone functionality into the digital camera, but not adding a camera functionality to the mobile phone.

Mobile reviews
Announced last week in China, the new K-Touch C800 and C280 are powered by a 8 megapixel CCD camera module, the K-Touch C700 is using a 7 megapixel CCD camera module instead. While there is no reviews available to confirm the photo quality yet, the camera phones is just like your digital camera with 3x optical zoom, Xenon flash, image stabilizer, face recognition and support up to 1600 ISO sensitivity.

It looks like the phones are using a seperate processor or software to handle the photo taking. The K-Touch C800 and C280 have 2 microSD card slot, both your camera photos and phones data are stored in seperate memory card. When you want to add your photos to your mms or email, there is no way for you to access the camera memory card. Basically to do that you will have to swap the memory card into the phone memory card slot, pretty troublesome design I would say.

Check out the phone specification and photos below for now before we see the real photo sample from these models.

Nokia Will Allow N-Gage Games License to Be Transferred

Just few days after AllAboutNGage revealed the current N-Gage policy, which only allows you to install the purchased game on single phone, Nokia has released an official statement that they will apply a fix to the current situation and eventually allows you to transfer your purchased license to other phones.Nokia mobile
Here is the statement released

“We have noticed a number of media stories about N-Gage game transfers and wanted to clarify the issue. Due to copy protection, N-Gage games, like most mobile games, are linked to one device. As the value of content increases, a robust copy protection mechanism is essential as it makes it possible for the games industry to invest in N-Gage content.

We acknowledge our customers’ concerns and have been working on a solution that would allow people to transfer purchased N-Gage games to a new Nokia device. We are working with our Nokia Care Centers with an intermediate solution to enable the licensed transfers of games until a final solution is ready to be deployed.

We apologise for the confusion around this issue and look forward to delivering an appropriate solution to transfer purchased N-Gage games to new Nokia devices.”

Samsung Intouch

Samsung mobileDesigned by Christina Droira and her colleagues at the University of Cincinnati, for the Samsung's Global Sponsored Project, the Intouch cell phone concept was presented in Korea at the Samsung Corporate Headquarters.

The idea from which the team started was that most young professionals don’t use PDAs or Smartphones as these don’t meet all their requirements so the students had to come out with something new based on the sub-vocal speech technology developed at NASA. This technology is meant to improve the communication between astronauts in space, by using sensors that analyze communication from people’s throat.
At the neck level would be placed a piece designed to read speech nerve signals, while the ear part would be in charge of hearing convo.

Samsung mobile
They called this complex device the Intouch because it focuses on communication, consisting of 3 parts: the phone, the directional sound Bluetooth ear cuff and the neck piece with adjustable magnetic enclosure and subvocal speech neuron detector, giving the user the possibility to use normal phone communication too.

For the cell phone, the designers wanted a fast glance screen on top, a modes button, a large wrapping LCD display, a super molded keyboard, the ear cuff spring loaded space, thumbprint security scanner, touch command surface and an integrated chip.

The display is not large enough, measuring just 2 inches, so you can’t say it’s a good solution for web browsing and TV if you didn’t read the specifications first.

Instinct Defeats iPhone

Instinct Defeats iPhone
Remember the recent video demonstration from M80 of the GPS capability of Samsung Instinct and Apple iPhone? Here are the next 4 showing the Internet connectivity, live TV, how to shoot a video and how fast you can download a song with both handsets:

The problem with the Internet connectivity at Apple’s iPhone is explained like this:
Working on AT&T’s Enhanced Data rates for GSM Evolution, a 2.75G standard, iPhone proves high-speed transfer rates but there is a delay specific to packet-switched communications, which consists of routing blocks of data (packets) between nodes over data links shared with other traffic, and in each of these network nodes the packets are queued or buffered, which produces the variable delay, leading to transfer speeds of up to 236.8 kbit/s for 4 timeslots.

With 3G EV-DO Rev A at Samsung Instinct, things are a bit different because this type of connectivity is based on Code Division Multiple Access and Time Division Multiple Access techniques, which increase the user’s throughput and the system’s throughput, by allowing several data transmitters to send simultaneously via the single communication channel. Transmitters have codes assigned and they have to take turn in sending information with the access divided by time.
The EV-DO channel has a bandwidth of 1.25 MHz and the Revision A standard improves the latency increasing the rates on the forward link up to 3.1 Mbit/s and on reverse link up to 1.8 Mbit/s.

About the other aspect, music download, to be able to get music with the Samsung Instinct you’d have to get it from Sprint’s Power Vision Network.
With the iPhone you have to tap the iTunes icon to go on iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store and browse, preview, buy and download what you like for your collection, but for this to work you have to be in a Wi-Fi hot spot and it seems that it doesn’t work every time...

LG brings the loaded KP320 multimedia phone to India

LG KP320
For all those of you who wanted a fully loaded phone that was affordable, the phones from LG’s Dynamite series used to fit the bill almost perfectly.

Now, LG has added one more phone to it’s Dynamite series in the LG KP320. Like it’s other Dynamite series brethren, the KP320 looks very run-of-the-mill, but again the difference here are the host of multimedia features that it manages to pack in.

The candybar KP320 has a two inch colour display that will display crisp images from the 3 megapixel camera that this phone manages to pack in. As with all the Dynamite series phones, the KP320 too will support a host of music playback options from MP3 to AAC that can be streamed through the Stereo Bluetooth function. To take the entertainment quotient further, LG has thrown in a FM radio player with stereo recording. A TV out feature also makes the KP320 one loaded multimedia phone. On the downside this phone still has 3G missing from it’s arsenal. Coming to it’s price, the LG KP320 will sell for INR 7990 or $192 which is a very reasonable price for the host of features it manages to offer.

Next iPhone

Next iPhoneiLounge, maybe the world’s largest iPhone and iPod resource of information, has just announced the Design The Next iPhone, Win The Next iPhone Contest, where you can submit your ideas about how the next iPhone should and could look like, as well as what new functionalities it can come with.

After the end date, only 6 concepts will win the competition and they will win 3 Apple’s next iPhone model, while other 3 will get $100 iTunes Gift Cards.
To participate you have to submit at least a 1600 pixels wide image with the next generation iPhone and description, as well as your personal information including name, e-mail address, and location.
You can do this until May 25, when the international contest ends, and the winners will be announced in the Free iPod + iPhone Book 4 on June 1.

And now, to give you an idea about what others have submitted, here are the ideas of other designers about how the next generation iPhone could look like:
Next iPhoneiPhone Dual Track Balls
Someone saw the next iPhone model as a handset with dual track balls, a design addition meant to make scrolling easier for those that use the iPhone for gaming.
Next iPhoneiPhone Air
It is inspired , of course, by the MacBook Air look but not to make the handset lighter but probably just to match it with the world’s lightest notebook
Next iPhoneiPhone Air:Thinnovation
It’s the thinnest iPhone concept, it too inspired by the MacBook Air design, but this one really matches the notebook, don’t you think?
If MacBook Air fits a manila envelope, iPhone Air: Thinnovation inserts easily into an airmail envelope.
Next iPhoneiPhone Pico
iPhone Pico would e the world’s smallest iPhone, and it’s so small that we can’t see it.
Next iPhoneiPhone Nil
iPhone Nil is no phone but just application icons.

Next iPhoneiPhone Clear
A thinner version than the iPhone Air : Thinnovation.

Next iPhoneiPhone Slide
-the slider version of the iPhone candybar. It would have two displays with multi-touch input, Video Conferencing, Ambient Light Sensor, Accelerometer, 32 GB storage, and 512 MB of RAM memory.

Next iPhoneiPhone Bio
It’s called Bio because it uses Biometric Security technology aka Fingerprint Scanning for identifying the right user for full access grant.

Next iPhoneiPhone Archetype
This is a concept version for the first 3G iPhone, a handset covered in a metallic black layer with backlit Apple logo. What it brings new is the glossy bezel replacing the chrome finish, and it also integrates the iCam mounted in the front.
The iBall sphere is scrollable and can be used for sound control and navigation, while there is also the multi-colored LED indicator that shows categories statuses

Next iPhoneSmallest Phone Ever
Smaller than iPhone Pico? Maybe but it looks kinda ugly.

Next iPhoneiPhone 3G
Another iPhone 3G concept…

HTC Touch Diamond Reviews

HTC today announced the Touch Diamond, their latest smartphone and an attempt by the company to wrest back the mobile internet crown from Apple’s iPhone. Running Windows Mobile 6.1 on a VGA touchscreen, HTC have developed a new, three-dimensional version of their GUI overlay, called TouchFLO 3D. This offers full homescreen access to all the applications and device status, as well as CoverFlow-style media browsing and rich icon animation.

HTC Touch Diamond Reviews
HTC Touch Diamond ReviewsHTC haven’t skimped on the connectivity, either. The Touch Diamond has 7.2Mbps HSDPA and HSUPA for super-fast uploads and downloads. That will be put to good use in the re-skinned Opera 9 browser, which HTC will be including in the smartphone’s ROM. In a demonstration today, HTC execs showed the browser zooming and reflowing text with a simple tap, as well as manually controlling the zoom level with the touch-sensitive scroll wheel (that doubles as the D-pad). The Touch Diamond also features an accelerometer, such as found in the iPhone, which can recognise which way up the handset is being held and orient the screen accordingly.

HTC Touch Diamond ReviewsThe company is calling the smartphone their “Usable Mobile Internet” device. It also has a custom version of YouTube, which execs described as “the best mobile YouTube experience”; Apple aren’t going to like that. Although hardware details are yet to be announced, in the demonstration the phone ran smoothly and with no slow-downs no matter whether playing media, browsing the internet or anything else.

HTC Touch Diamond ReviewsThe handset will be launched in Europe and Asia in June, with the rest of the world later on in 2008. No prices have been revealed. Our sister-site PHONE Magazine will be bringing you more coverage from the HTC event - including hands-on video with the Touch Diamond itself - later on today, so keep reading!

Choose either of the 3 products mentioned previously, enter your email address and don’t forget to enter the captcha. The license key should be in your mail box shortly after that. The applications can be downloaded directly from this page.
